Warrah 1912 subdivision centenary
The Warrah centenary was held Friday 21st September to Sunday 23rd September, 2012.
The Warrah 1912 subdivision centenary was a great success. It all went perfectly, just as you would hope it would, but probably not really expect.
Unveiling the commemorative basalt rock. Alma Upton [nee Avard], Michael Rhodes, [AACo CEO.] Joan Wares [nee Morrison] and little Zac Gallagher.
Cutting the cake. Pat Thomas [nee Kelaher], Alma Upton [nee Avard], Cyril Barwick, Gloryna Barwick [nee Ferris], Joan Wares [nee Morrison], Clare Stanley [nee Smith], and Julia Benham [nee Ingal.
Friday night at the club was excellent, with everyone enjoying a great meal and first catchup and chat. Some minor electrical problems just added to the great friendly atmosphere.
Saturday saw perfect weather, and yummy morning tea. The bus tours were very popular, and saw 4 packed buses head off during the day. The Quirindi lions did an excellent BBQ lunch, and then was followed by the official proceedings. The speakers all did a great
job, especially Earl and Ray, and the A.A.Co.s Michael Rhodes. Then socialising and wound up by a great meal in the big marquee, with some entertainment and auctions. The generous bidders at the auction mean that we should cover costs and probably make a small
profit. Sunday was just more glorious weather, 2 more bus tours and just a relaxing catchup with relatives and friends.
L-R. Earl Kelaher, Geoff Barwick, Ray Hynes, Peter Parnwell, Margaret Watts, Kay Barwick, Neil Barwick, Bridget Gallagher, Allan Jeffkins, Gwen Cone, Elizabeth Gallagher, Barry Avard, Dawn Jeffkins, Ian Gallagher, Sue Schumaker, Peter Doyle, and Sally Fitzpatrick.
The committee would like to thank everyone who attended, for making the 3 days something very special for all.
The kids, about to lower the time capsule.
There are a couple of hundred photos of the centenary, in the new section, "Centenary Photos", all sorted into different albums. Photos taken by Geoff, Neil and David Barwick, and Toby Hynes. Youtube
videos in the "Centenary Videos" section, and some new stories in the "Centenary Stories" section.
Clare Stanley [nee Smith], 90 years old, and Julia Benham [nee Ingal], 103 years old, 2 wonderful old ladies at the centenary.
